Better than Project... Project+

This week I added another IT certification to the ever-growing list.  This time it was the Project+ certification from CompTIA.  It's really fairly light on the technical side and much more focused on the process/business side of things.  It's a VERY terminology-heavy exam and there's even a few math problems thrown in for good measure.  Fortunately for me, some (a very small portion, actually) of the material is an overlap with the CISSP material that I'm currently studying for.  Speaking of which, I think this Project+ cert will be the last one for a while.  With any luck, CISSP will be next and then I think I'll let my brain take a break.

Yet Another Certification

The latest IT certification added to the resume... CIW JavaScript Specialist.  So, you know, if you need any annoying pop-up windows or anything, I can help you out with that.  Actually the JS cert wasn't really something that was high on my list, but I figured I'd go ahead and knock it out since it looked pretty easy... and it was.

Another Cert

Recently I added another IT certification to my ever-growing list.  It seems like lately I'm always studying for one certification or another.  This time it was the CIW Web Foundations Associate.  Ironically, it's more basic in the material covered than all the other certs I've already attained, but it is part of a larger plan and something I needed to knock out so I could keep moving.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

Last week I checked another item off the to-do list.  Now, along with my MCITP: Enterprise Administrator I'm certified MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.  I used the self-paced study guide from Microsoft Press and some practice exams.  In all, I prepared for about 10 days before sitting for the exam.  I have no background with Exchange and it showed when I took the test.  I didn't score as highly as I would have liked and I don't feel like I was adequately prepared for the test.  I think spending a bit more time with a couple of other sources would have been helpful.  However, the important thing is that I passed and can move on to my next goal... CISSP.

My Certs

I Guess I'm Ready

Today's the day. I scheduled my final MCITP exam for this afternoon. I was torn between today or sometime next week. Yesterday I knew I wasn't ready, but was hoping I could be ready by 2:15 today. The alternative of thinking about the test all weekend and studying every night until then to keep it fresh in my mind wasn't something I was looking forward to.

So. Here I am. I just finished my sushi (6 pieces of tuna nigiri) as part of what has become a pre-test ritual. I'm sitting in the cafe at Whole Foods staring out the windows into the cold rain. I'll get to walk in the cold rain... the test site is in a building just across the street. I'll walk from here rather than parking at the actual building. That, too, has become part of the ritual and I don't want to deviate from the plan.

Wish me luck. I guess I'm ready.
